Moving Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) Files to Another Computer

Problem Description

Need to move all the client information in Fixed Asset Manager to a new computer.


Solution Description
Stand Alone Installs:
  1. Copy the FamWinXX (XX being the tax year) folders on the local C drive to a portable drive.
  2. Install FAM from scratch on the new computer.
  3. Once installed, copy the FamWinXX folders from the portable drive to the C drive on the new computer.
  4. Open FAM on the new computer.
  5. If the clients do not show, click File -> Open Client and launch each client.
Network Installs:
  1. Copy the FamWinXX (XX being the tax year) folders on the network drive to a portable drive.
  2. Install FAM from scratch to the new network drive.
  3. Once installed, copy the FamWinXX folders from the portable drive to the new network drive.
  4. Install the workstation by opening the Setup.exe file under FamWinXX\WKSTN on the new network drive.
  5. Open FAM on the workstation.
  6. If the clients do not show, click File -> Open Client and launch each client.
